Take-Two Interactive kept Grand Theft Auto VI on course for November 19, 2026, in its fiscal first-quarter results on August 7. On the call with analysts, CEO Strauss Zelnick described the level of pre-orders as "unprecedented and astonishing," Shacknews reported.
What it means for players
The launch plan is unchanged. In Take-Two's earnings release, Zelnick pointed to "excitement around the November 19th launch" as he restated the company's forecast of $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion in net bookings for its 2027 fiscal year.
He shared no pre-order numbers and said Take-Two does not yet know how that demand will turn into sales. He also said he believes Rockstar "got it right" on price, according to Shacknews. Standard costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99; the editions page compares them.
Zelnick also defended selling the boxed version as a download code. For big games, he argued, discs offer buyers little, though he did not rule out physical editions in every case, LADbible reported, citing IGN. In June, an insider had claimed that discs would follow in December.
Background
These were Take-Two's first results since pre-orders opened on June 25, five days before the quarter closed on June 30. Net bookings for the quarter came to $1.39 billion, 3% lower than a year earlier. That is a company-wide total, with NBA 2K, the existing Grand Theft Auto series and Toon Blast among the biggest contributors; the release does not report any GTA VI pre-order figures.
