Rumor: insider claims a GTA VI disc version will follow in December
Rumor: an insider claimed GTA VI would get a disc version in December 2026. Nothing official backs it, and a later report said no disc is planned.

Graczdari, an insider for the Polish site PPE.pl, claimed that disc copies of Grand Theft Auto VI would arrive in December 2026. VGC, which relayed the claim on June 25, says he handles physical game sales in Europe. It credits him with getting retail release dates right before, including Microsoft Flight Simulator on PS5, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on Switch 2 and Oblivion Remastered, and says his earlier claim about GTA VI's boxed copies was partly borne out. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed a disc version.
Why it caught on
Rockstar had just said that boxed copies contain a download code rather than a disc, and many players were unhappy. Some who asked Rockstar support got an email promising they could "acquire a physical copy during the following months," which, as Vice pointed out, never actually mentions a disc. According to VGC, the insider framed the code-in-a-box run as a first batch, with discs to come later.
What has been said since
- June 27: Kotaku relayed a Hollywood Reporter story in which a source said the email was genuine but had been misread. The Hollywood Reporter added that no discs were planned, at launch or later.
- August 7: On the day of Take-Two's quarterly results, CEO Strauss Zelnick told analysts that for big games, discs "don't really make sense for the consumer," LADbible reported, citing IGN. He stopped short of ruling out physical releases in general.
