Take-Two Interactive's first-quarter results for fiscal 2026, released on August 7, 2025, still showed Grand Theft Auto VI arriving on May 26, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. In interviews after the results, chief executive Strauss Zelnick said the price would be Rockstar's announcement to make.
Price: no number yet
Analysts had been floating figures between $80 and $100. Zelnick neither confirmed nor ruled out any of them. In comments to Variety, picked up by GamingBolt, he said the price announcement "will come from Rockstar in due time." He noted that Take-Two has "had variable pricing at the company forever" and that its goal is "to deliver more value than what we charge."
Confidence in the date
Talking to CNBC, in remarks reported by Kotaku and Push Square, Zelnick put his conviction in the May date at "very, very high." Take-Two's August filing also raised the company's fiscal 2026 net bookings forecast to $6.05 billion to $6.15 billion, up from the $5.9 billion to $6.0 billion it projected in May.
What it meant for players
In August 2025, nothing moved: same date, same consoles, still no price. The date did not last: three months on, Rockstar delayed the game again and Take-Two's second-quarter release gave November 19, 2026 as the new launch date. Current editions and prices are on the editions page, and the timeline shows each date change.
