Take-Two forecasts over $8 billion in fiscal 2025 bookings, without naming GTA VI

Take-Two said several groundbreaking titles would lift fiscal 2025 net bookings past $8 billion. Outlets saw a GTA VI hint; that timing did not hold.

Take-Two Interactive said on May 17, 2023 that it planned to release "several groundbreaking titles" in fiscal 2025 and expected them to push net bookings above $8 billion that year. The outlook was part of its fiscal 2023 results, and it did not name a single game.

What it means for players

The forecast was official; the GTA VI connection was not. Take-Two's fiscal 2025 ran from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, as Gematsu noted, so a jump of that size led outlets such as GamesRadar+ to wonder whether Rockstar's game could land as early as 2024. A Microsoft filing had already put the game in 2024. Take-Two itself never said so.

The numbers

Net bookings for fiscal 2023 were $5.28 billion, and the company guided $5.45 billion to $5.55 billion for fiscal 2024. Chief executive Strauss Zelnick said that guidance reflected a tough market for consumers and longer development schedules for several "high-profile, long-awaited titles," again without naming them. Asked about the fiscal 2025 outlook, he said it was "very uncharacteristic of us to talk about subsequent years at this time," GamesRadar+ reported.

On May 25, VGC reported Zelnick's view, given on The Good Time Show podcast, that a new GTA "needs to be something you've never seen before" while still feeling like Grand Theft Auto.

How the GTA VI reading held up

It did not. In May 2024, Take-Two narrowed the window to fall 2025, after fiscal 2025 had ended, and its outlook for that year left the game out, VGC reported. The game was then delayed into 2026 and is now due on November 19, 2026, PCWorld reported.
