Take-Two lists GTA VI for May 26, 2026 in its first results after the delay

Take-Two's May 2025 results put GTA VI on May 26, 2026, and Strauss Zelnick called the extra development time a worthy investment.

Take-Two Interactive's fiscal 2025 earnings release, published on May 15, 2025, listed Grand Theft Auto VI for May 26, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It was the publisher's first results since Rockstar pushed the game out of fall 2025 earlier that month.

What it meant at the time

The filing placed the launch in Take-Two's fiscal 2027, and its CEO comments said that lineup should bring "record levels of Net Bookings." For players, May 26 was the date to plan around. It did not hold: by November 2025, Take-Two's second-quarter release gave November 19, 2026 instead, when Rockstar delayed the game again. Every change is on the timeline.

Zelnick on the extra months

Chief executive Strauss Zelnick described the added development time as "a worthy investment," VGC reported. In an IGN interview cited by VGC, he said Take-Two had been "very good about reaching" dates once it commits to one, and framed the slip as time for polish. VGC took that as a sign the company did not expect another move.

Zelnick would not tell Variety when the delay was decided. Asked about price, he named no figure and said Take-Two wants to "deliver way more value than whatever we charge consumers."

The numbers

Take-Two forecast $5.9 billion to $6.0 billion in net bookings for fiscal 2026, a year that no longer included GTA VI. Zelnick acknowledged to Variety that the figure was lower without the game. Today's editions and prices are on the editions page.
