Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look drew 31.1 million views on Netflix from August 27 to 30, 2026, according to Netflix's weekly Top 10 figures as reported by What's on Netflix and Push Square. No other title on the service drew more views that week.

What it means for players

The figure shows how widely Rockstar's gameplay video was watched on a service built for films and series, but it is not a count of people. Netflix calculates a view as "the number of hours viewed divided by the total run time" (Netflix). What's on Netflix put the video at 27 minutes and about 14 million hours watched.

That also means the number does not line up neatly with YouTube. Rockstar's own upload had around 17 million views when Push Square wrote its report, and What's on Netflix noted that YouTube changed how it counts views in mid-2026. Neither report carries any comment from Rockstar or Take-Two, and neither calls the result a record.

How it ranked

  • Overall: Push Square says it led by a wide margin and topped the English-language films chart, where The Whisper Man came second with 23.2 million views.
  • By country: it ranked first in 87 countries out of the 93 that Netflix tracks, What's on Netflix reported.
  • Netflix's view: the company's own statement, quoted by What's on Netflix, presented the showing as a first of its kind for the service.

Background

Netflix had the video to itself for six hours: it premiered there at 3 p.m. ET on August 27 and reached Rockstar's YouTube channel and the GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET, as the Rockstar Newswire had announced. The timeline lists it alongside Rockstar's other official videos.
