On October 28, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said Miami-Dade County had agreed a GTA VI marketing and advertising package with Rockstar Games worth $3.9 million, according to the county's press release. Neither the release nor the coverage includes a statement from Rockstar.
What visitors will see
The county lists themed lighting at Miami International Airport and PortMiami, displays along the walkways that link the airport's parking garages to its terminals, and game-themed wraps on some traffic signal cabinets across the county. Rockstar pays to install, maintain and remove the material, and every design still needs county approval. Some of the placements are separate ad buys made through the media companies that sell advertising space at the airport and on county transport.
The total also covers an earlier $975,000 deal for the "Welcome to Vice City" sign on the roof of the Kaseya Center, the downtown arena where GTA-branded food stands were reported last week. The county says that money will go toward a public park behind the arena, a project WLRN says has been stalled for more than 30 years.
Criticism
The plan has opponents. WLRN reports that Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and Commissioner J.C. Bermudez objected because the game features crime and violence against police, and that several commissioners complained there was no full commission vote. Levine Cava, quoted by WLRN, said the county has "an opportunity to make sure Miami-Dade benefits from that attention."
Miami and Miami Beach, as separate cities, set up their own promotions with Rockstar outside this package. GTA VI launches November 19, 2026; our launch FAQ covers what Rockstar has confirmed.
