On June 18, 2026, Rockstar Games gave Grand Theft Auto VI a pre-order date, June 25, and unveiled the game's official cover art.

What it meant for players

According to Rockstar's Newswire, orders would open "on digital storefronts and at other select retailers." In the meantime, Rockstar pointed fans to Sony's and Microsoft's digital stores, where wishlisting the game would bring a notification once orders opened. Game Informer named the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, and the launch date stayed at November 19.

Prices and editions were not part of this announcement. They followed on June 24; the editions page lists what each one includes.

The cover

Rockstar kept the series' familiar look: a collage of separate panels. Game Informer counts Lucia and Jason, Raul Bautista and Boobie Ike among them, with an alligator in the middle panel as a nod to the game's Florida-inspired setting.

Rockstar also offered the cover as a download, Vice noted, and the official site gained two more additions: a new wide image of Vice City's harbor and skyline, and a refreshed story synopsis in which Jason and Lucia get caught up in a conspiracy reaching across Leonida.

Not a trailer

Game Informer described the reveal as a new promotional video rather than a gameplay trailer. For how this fits with the rest of the game's announcements, see the timeline.
