Rumor: Leak account claims Rockstar pitched a Daft Punk reunion for GTA VI

A music leak account claims, without evidence, that Rockstar pitched Daft Punk a reunion for GTA VI's music. Rockstar has not commented.

Has It Leaked, a music leak account on X, claimed on October 19 that Rockstar approached Daft Punk's management about reuniting the duo to make music for GTA VI. The account offered no evidence. When a reader suggested the story was invented, it pointed to its own history, saying it has covered Daft Punk and Justice news for more than a decade, per NME. Neither NME nor Mixmag says it checked that record.

The claim

According to the post, the pitch was for "a final comeback" backed by "essentially an unlimited budget," and the account added that Justice were Rockstar's second choice. That last part is the account's framing, not something Rockstar has said. NME reports that Rockstar has not commented, and neither outlet reported a reply from Daft Punk. Mixmag calls Has It Leaked a rumor platform and attributes the whole claim to it, without confirming any of it.

What it means for players

Nothing changes in the game. The confirmed music is the same as last week: Rockstar has named Justice as the game's original score composers, and their song "Flower in a Hurricane" leads the Launch Trailer.

Background

Daft Punk split in 2021. Since then, NME notes, Thomas Bangalter has ruled out a reunion, saying he had "other things to explore." One member already has a credit on the game's music, though: Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo has a production credit on Travis Scott's "RHYNO" for Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. GTA VI comes out on November 19, 2026; the launch FAQ covers what is confirmed.
